I bought this for my grandson after seeing the great reviews here, and before he was born. It was one of his first toys and is still the most popular. He is teething at 5 months, and loves to chew Sophie's nose, ear or leg. The fact he could grab onto its leg at an early age made it possible for him to learn to hold it too. He smiles at Sophie (although we call it Jerry Giraffe because my daughter has a dog named Sophie :)...) and he loves it! Jerry goes everywhere with him. My daughter has recommended it to other mommies, and so it continues to be a favorite to them too. You can't go wrong with this toy/teether. -- Sophie is sensational!
